Event planning is often overwhelming, especially for busy adults. Existing tools lack user-friendly, efficient coordination. Users need a simplified solution that centralizes event management in one platform.
RESEARCH
I conducted interviews with people who frequently planned events—both professionals and casual users—to understand their pain points and what they felt was missing from existing solutions. I also ran surveys and analyzed competitor apps to find patterns and features that users either loved or disliked.
PLANNING
With a clear understanding of the user needs, I moved into the planning phase. I defined the project scope, established key objectives, and outlined the technical requirements. This phase was crucial in setting the direction for the project and ensuring that all aspects of the app would work together cohesively.
DESIGN & ITERATION
The design process was iterative and user-centric. I started with wireframes to map out the user flow and structure of the app, followed by creating prototypes to test with real users. Feedback from these sessions was instrumental in refining the design. I focused on creating an intuitive interface that would make the complex task of event planning feel simple and manageable.
In the competitive analysis for my ORG UX design project, I evaluated leading event planning tools to identify their strengths and weaknesses. This analysis revealed critical gaps in features and user experience, which informed the design of a more intuitive and comprehensive solution tailored to the needs of event planners.
TECH-SAVVY ADULTS
Users are tech industry professionals, both men and women aged 18+, who are comfortable with digital tools and seek efficient solutions for managing their busy schedules.
EVENT ORGANIZERS
These users frequently plan and coordinate events, requiring a reliable platform to handle multiple events simultaneously with minimal hassle.
EFFICIENCY-DRIVEN
They value a user-friendly interface and intelligent coordination software that simplifies complex tasks and streamlines the event planning process.
COLLABORATIVE NEEDS
Organizers need to manage permissions for various users, easily update and edit event details, and access responsive support to ensure smooth event execution.
CENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT
Mark noted, “It’s exhausting trying to keep track of guest lists in one app and schedules in another.” Stressing the need for a platform where all event details—guest lists, schedules, and communication—are easily accessible in one central location.
NEED FOR SIMPLIFICATION
Emily mentioned, “I just need something straightforward, but I end up wasting time figuring out features I don’t even need,” highlighting the frustration with unnecessary elements.
STREAMLINE EVENT SETUP
Provide a straightforward process for creating and customizing events with minimal effort.
CENTRALIZE INFORMATION
Aggregate all event-related data and communications in one accessible platform to improve organization.
ENHANCE COLLABORATION
Implement basic tools for role assignment and permissions to facilitate team coordination.
ENSURE USABILITY
Design an intuitive interface that requires minimal training and allows users to manage events efficiently.
ENABLE REAL-TIME UPDATES
Offer features for immediate notifications and updates to keep users informed of any changes.

Feedback from these sessions was instrumental in refining the design. I focused on creating an intuitive interface that would make the complex task of event planning feel simple and manageable.
For this project, I focused on two key user flows: creating a new event and editing/updating an existing event. These flows were designed to streamline the planning process, ensuring that users could easily set up events or make adjustments without unnecessary steps or confusion.
The wireframes for Org served as the foundational blueprint, mapping out the user flow and structure of the app to ensure a seamless and intuitive event planning experience.
Usability testing was conducted to gather valuable user feedback, allowing me to identify pain points and refine the design to ensure a more intuitive and user-friendly experience.
Testing revealed that the home page and navigation needed to be redesigned to better establish hierarchy, helping users more easily access and manage key features within the app.
